Axillary Liposuction for Hyperhidrosis - Center for Excessive Sweating and

By: Hratch Karamanoukian, MD and Raffy Karamanoukian, MD

July 20, 2008

The removal of axillary sweat glands using liposuction with tumescent anaesthesia in an outpatient setting is a relatively short and simple procedure with few complications,.

We present 48 patients treated with axillary liposuction under tumescent anaesthesia. This is not liposuction in the traditional sense, but "superficial liposuction" in that the probe is turned upside down and suction applied right under the skin as opposed to the fatty tissue underneath the skin. This sucks out the sweat glands and helps relieve hyperhidrosis.

Of the 48 patients treated, two relapsed with axillary hyperhidrosis and required additional liposuction to the same area. The longest time to relapse was  6 months, with 3 months being the shortest time.

Dr. Hratch karamanoukian performs this procedure in his office in Williamsville, CA at the Center for Excessive Sweating and Dr. Raffy in Beverly Hills, CA. For more information, contact our NY office @ 716-839-3638 and Santa Monica office @310-998-5533.
