Hyperhidrosis and Stem Cells - Hype or RealityBy: Dr Karamanoukian at www.EliminateSweating.com September 18, 2008 |

Does stem cell therapy help individuals with hyperhidrosis? I recently received two e mails regarding this subject from patients in southern California. A physician (quack?) apparently has offered to treat hyperhidrosis of the underarms with 'stem cells'. This is ridiculous and patients should not waste their monies for such therapies that are not proven and don't make physiologic snese ! There is no published data regarding the use of stem cells to reduce hyperhidrosis in animals or humans. I contacted several stem cell researchers who agreed with me that this disease modality (hyperhidrosis) is unlikely to be treated with stem cells.
